Idaclaire was created in 1999 by sisters Tricia & Kate.

They received their first sewing machine for Christmas 1975. Kate was 6 and Tricia was 4. Their mom and grandmothers taught them how to sew…

Fast forward a few years and we have their first venture into the handbag business – In 1982, at the height of the original preppy phase - the sisters founded Bebop Creations – making custom monogrammed handbags for classmates at their junior high school. There was just one design back then, but friends got to chose their color combinations and the were personalized with iron-on felt monogram letters – They were a hit back them and we couldn't make them fast enough. Every night, we would sew four or five bags, THEN do our homework! Priorities…

Summer 1999 Kate purchased a long Lilly Pulitzer dress - She hemmed it into a short dress & made herself a handbag from the leftover fabric. The first time she ventured out with the bag, everyone stopped to ask about it. One thing led to another and soon the girls were making bags for all their friends and then friends of friends…

Home shows led to trunk shows at local boutiques and eventually www.idaclaire.com. – we now get orders from all over the country and love the fact we're able to share modern preppy accessories with everyone!

Today our line has expanded from handbags to include monogrammed gifts and accessories. We also are expanding our line of baby gifts.
